EA and Respawn aren’t squandering the Star Wars license: they’ve recently revealed that their cooperation with Lucasfilm Games will result in three Star Wars games, two of which are currently undisclosed. And at least one of them is a first-person shooter with multiplayer.
“Game Director Stig Asmussen and his team at the studio are already hard at work on the next installment in the action adventure Star Wars Jedi series, and they’re joined by two new teams working on new Star Wars gaming experiences across several genres.” Peter Hirschmann, Respawn’s Game Director, is in charge of the creation of Respawn’s all-new Star Wars first-person shooter game. Hirschmann has a long and successful relationship with the Star Wars property. The third game is a Star Wars strategy game created in conjunction with Bit Reactor, a newly founded firm led by games industry veteran Greg Foerstch. The next Star Wars strategy game will be developed by Bit Reactor, while Respawn will create it.”
Hirschmann was formerly an executive producer on the Star Wars Battlefront (pictured above) series and VP of development at LucasArts, but we don’t know much more. It’s worth noting that none of these games are the Quantic Dream-led Star Wars Eclipse that was revealed only a few months ago.
