The Final Fantasy VI classic is getting a full-fledged pixel remaster and new features like 4K support, cross-save functionality, and improved animations. The game will be released on Steam this September with the original version playable in parallel so players can complete their save file without losing progress.

Square Enix has produced a promotional video for Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster, which will be released on February 23.

This game is set 1,000 years after the War of the Magi and features a variety of playable characters with their own backstories, objectives, and fates. The magicite system, which allows players to select the powers, magic spells, and summons each character possesses, is also available.

Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster will witness the return of original artist and current collaboratorKazuko Shibuya, with new visuals and soundtrack while keeping the appearance of the original. The reworked soundtrack was supervised by original composer Nobuo Uematsu. A redesigned UI, auto-battle options, and other quality of life enhancements have also been added to the game.
