After an apparently lengthy hiatus, the Metal Slug series is finally back. And this time, it looks like developer SNK has been hard at work to make sure this iteration is a must-have. And from the looks of it, it won’t be a cheap one.
The Metal Slug franchise is a series of run ‘n gun shoot ’em up video games that first debuted in 1987 for the arcades. The games are a series of top-down vertical scrolling shooters that have been ported to several different platforms since then. The main game is a 2D side-scrolling run ‘n gun that pits a team of soldiers against an array of enemy soldiers and boss characters. The games typically involve a series of stages that feature a different layout and a new enemy placement.
Metal Slug Tactics is one of the most anticipated games for the PS4, and will be the first title for the system. The game is a real-time tactics game that takes place in the Metal Slug universe. Players will control a team of up to four characters, and will have to fight countless enemies while exploring a large number of maps, in order to complete missions.. In this game, Marco, Eri, Fio, and Tarma will return, armed with the trademark armament that made them such a success in arcades. They’ll take on enemies with techniques like the new SYNC assault, thanks to the dependable heavy machine gun and deadly SVX-15D Slugnoid mech.

The Gameplay of Metal Slug Tactics
Metal Slug Tactics will include dynamic, strategic combat and roguelite features, as well as hand-crafted terrain tiles. Players will use skill trees, perks, and the game’s new adrenaline system to help them along the journey.
The game will also be available on the Nintendo Switch, as announced during today’s Indie World section.
