Old School RuneScape has been one of the most popular aspects of the game since its release back in 2006. It’s a separate game mode with it’s own skills, quests, and a complete code of rules. Members of the community have long called for the ability to play in this mode, but the developers have long resisted implementing this option. Their reasoning has been that the game would be too different from the main game. However, the release of RuneScape 3, the most recent version of the game, has brought about a new opportunity for Old School RuneScape to be implemented. Old School RuneScape (OSRS) has long been known for its controversial meta changes. This week, the developers announced a new update will be released to the game’s beta environment. The new update will feature a new Yak boss, which will be added to the game ‘over the next few weeks’. The Yak boss will be an old school clue scroll boss, with the intention that it will be the first of many old school boss monsters to appear in the game.
Old School RuneScape, the unofficial continuation of Runescape that is celebrating its 15th birthday this year, has been running an idea thread designed to encourage the developers to implement ranged combat changes into the game.
