The PlanetSide 2 Open Beta is in full swing, and the number of new players continues to grow at an impressive clip. But that’s not the whole story. Some players are finding themselves in a grumpy mood as they explore the new content, but other players have been in touch with one of the game’s developers and they have some big news for them.
While the commitment of the player base to PlanetSide 2 is nothing short of incredible, the pace at which new content is being released is far too slow, and the early access group is in desperate need of a revamp.
PlanetSide 2, in case you don’t know, is a massive online first-person shooter that just passed its first-year anniversary. The game has over 10 million players and still going strong despite its age, and this is a direct result of the dev team’s dedication to keeping it updated with new features and content.
The Nanite Systems Operative (NSO) faction in PlanetSide 2 has always been a unique choice, as it’s not really a full-fledged faction, but just a bunch of robots who side with the less populated realm and are only available to those who have a membership with the game. However, both of these factors will change very soon, as the developers plan to release several updates for the NSO. At the top of the list is the ability for free players to join the NSO, provided they have at least one character of rank BR20 and have completed the required quest. Otherwise, these NSO units function as before, moving to the least populated realm on each continent they land on. At the same time, Premium members with NSO characters will be able to join one of the three factions in the game on a semi-permanent basis, as well as that faction’s outfit. Team members will also be able to change alliances by signing a new contract on Sanctuary, or switch to a temporary free regime if they wish. The NSO overhaul will also introduce new NSO-specific guidelines, add many new infantry weapons unique to the group, introduce two new vehicles in the form of the Chimera main battle tank and the Dervish heavy fighter, and fix many NSO-related bugs. All of these updates are expected to enter the closed testing cycle in the coming weeks, but until then, interested players can get a glimpse of what’s to come. ViewPlanetSide 2 developer Daybreak Game Company (formerly Sony Online Entertainment) discussed its plans for the New Conglomerate (NC) faction in the upcoming major update, codenamed 1.7. The update, which is coming to PlanetSide 2 on August 18, will add a number of new features to the NC faction, including new vehicles, weapons, a redesigned ecosphere, and a new Advance Base building. The NC will also be opening group finder to all players, Daybreak noted. Read more about planetside 2 nso update and let us know what you think.
