Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector is a turn-based strategy game in which you take control of a faction of Space Marines, Imperial Guard, and Orks. The game is set in the grim dark future of the Warhammer 40,000 universe, where the forces of Chaos and the Imperium of Man are locked in an eternal conflict.

Real-time strategy game Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector is now out on Steam, and it’s a surprisingly awesome addition to the universe. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a science fiction RTS / strategy game published by Games Workshop. Or, put another way, it’s a spin-off of the original Warhammer 40,000 / Space Marine series of games. Essentially, it’s a sci-fi version of the classic RTS series Dune II.

Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector is a tactical real-time strategy game based on Games Workshop’s Warhammer 40,000 universe. The game takes place in a science fantasy setting, between the 41st Millennium, where humanity is on the verge of collapse, and the 41st Millennium, when humanity has been reborn. The game is played in a futuristic, post-apocalyptic environment and allows players to command human and alien forces in battles across a variety of settings, including small squad-based skirmishes, massive battles and epic conflicts.

Slitherine and Black Lab Games, the creators of Battlestar Galactica Deadlock, have launched Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector, a turn-based strategy game centered “on army-sized turn-based strategical fights on grid-based maps.” Its campaign follows 8th Company’s Sergeant Carleon and his attempts to cleanse Baal Secundus of Tyranids while testing the “skills and stability of the new Primaris Space Marines” in the days after the Devastation of Baal.

Voice acting, cutscenes, and goals like as “activating relays, defending troops, collecting holy artifacts, or straight out wiping out all resistance” will all be part of Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector’s campaign. The Tyranids are playable in both skirmish and multiplayer, but you won’t be able to control them in the campaign.

The number of models in a Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector army ranges from 10 to 25, depending on the kinds of recruited troops. In Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector, both ambient items and other troops qualify as cover. Overwatch also enables you to defend locations and surprise opponents with a shower of gunfire when they approach their line of sight. Battles will almost always force your troops into melee combat, which is why you should be aware that each assault allows the opponent to counterattack.

Attempting to flee melee or moving across neighboring tiles causes your opponent to launch an assault of opportunity. In these circumstances, charges are the only option to escape a retaliatory assault while still having a chance to drive them back one tile. Performing them, on the other hand, requires a perfectly straight line between your troops and their objective.

The HQ Command system allows players to request extra air assistance. When battling for the Imperium, you may send in a Stormraven to annihilate your opponents or add Assault Marines to your army. The Tyranids may also summon Harpies to attack the Blood Angels or lay spore mines throughout the battlefield to cause havoc.

The Momentum system in Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector “allows troops to rush into the battlefield, enabling them to execute superhuman sequences of actions or improve their skills.” “Killing their foes up close” is how the Blood Angels earn it. This activates the faction’s distinctive Red Thirst ability, which increases the chances of critical strikes. A unit’s Momentum may be used to “either earn additional action points or improve an ability” if all of its Momentum is used.

The game also features a Photo Mode that was shown shown on the Slitherine Twitch channel during the Home of Wargamers 2021 Live+ event in May.

Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector is currently available on PC as of today, July 22. Its Xbox One and PlayStation 4 versions are expected to arrive “soon.”
