Today marks the 21st anniversary of World War II Online as it turns from a premium pay-to-play game to free for everyone. The decision is largely due to player feedback and pressure, but also because there’s only so much content that can be created in any one world before things start getting repetitive.

“WW2 Online player count” is a game that has been around for 21 years. The game is celebrating by handing out premium access to everyone for a limited time.

The 21st(!) anniversary of World War II Online was yesterday, June 1st, and to commemorate the occasion, Cornered Rat Software is making premium access to the game available to everyone, whether they’re a new player, a returning veteran, or a free player.

All accounts registered on the game’s official site or on Steam will get all of the perks of a premium membership between now and Wednesday, June 15th, including access to every vehicle in the game and a maximum rank of 13.

This offer corresponds with the shooter’s most recent update, which includes various paratrooper tweaks, new vehicles, and more, as well as the game’s relocation of its East Coast server, which has received a lot of positive feedback from players. Meanwhile, conversion to Unreal Engine 5 and the production of various new objects continues in the infantry-focused WWII Online: Chokepoint.
